Coronaviruses (CoV) are large family of viruses that cause illness from the common cold to more diseases such as Middle East Respiratory Syndrome (MERS-CoV) and Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome (SARS-CoV).

Coronavirus disease (COVID-19) : It is new strain that was discovered in 2019 and has not been previously identified in humans.

Coronaviruses are transmitted between animals and people i.e, these are zoonotic. It's detailed investigations found that SARS-CoV was transmitted from civet cats to humans and MERS-CoV from dromedary camels to humans. Several known coronaviruses are circulating in those animals that have not yet infected humans. 

Common Sign: 

It include respiratory symptoms, fever, cough, shortness of breath and breathing difficulties. In more cases, infection can cause pneumonia, severe acute respiratory syndrome, kidney failure and even death. 

Standard recommendations to prevent from infection spread are include regular hand washing, covering mouth and nose when coughing and sneezing, thoroughly cooking meat and eggs. Avoid close contact with anyone showing symptoms of respiratory illness such as coughing and sneezing.

If you have a mask, wear it to protect from others. Stay at least 1.5 metres away from other peoples. Cover your coughs or sneezes with your elbow.

Treatment

There is no treatment for coronavirus (COVID-19), but medical care can treat most of the symptoms.

Antibiotics do not work on coronaviruses.

If you need to be self-isolate.

If you have been diagnosed with  coronavirus (COVID-19), you must stay at home to prevent it spreading to other people.

Staying at home means:

do not go to public places such as work, school,colleges, shopping centres, childcare or university.

You do not need to wear a mask in your home.If you need to go out to seek medical attention, wear a surgical mask to protect others.

You should stay in touch with your family and friends via phone and on-line.

 

Vaccination

There is no vaccine for coronavirus (COVID-19), but there is one for the flu.You should get your flu shot when it’s available. Getting the flu and coronavirus (COVID-19) at the same time can make you very ill.
