It is said that the Vaishno Devi temple was built about 700 years ago by Pandit Sridhar, a Brahmin priest. He was very poor, he had a lot of devotion for mother Vaishno Devi. It is said that one day the mother saw her in a dream and where she got a store made for her. An auspicious day was fixed for the bhandara dedicated to Maa Vaishno Devi, and Sridhar also invited all the villagers in the vicinity to receive the prasad.

Some people helped him for this store of Maa Vaishno Devi, but that help was not enough for that store. As Bhandare's day was getting closer, the problem of Brahmin was increasing. He was just thinking how Bhandara would be able to do with so little stuff.

A day before Bhandare, the Brahmins were unable to sleep even for a moment, wondering how they would be able to arrange for the guests to eat. He was surrounded by problems till morning and in such a situation he was expecting only a miracle of the Mother Goddess.

The Brahmin sat outside his hut for worship and by noon the guests started coming to Bhandare. All the people easily sat in the small slum of Brahmin and even after that there was place in the hut.

After this the Brahmin opened his eyes and thought how he would be able to provide food to all of them. Then they suddenly saw a little girl coming out of the hut named Vaishnavi. She was going to the Bhandara Fort and the girl's name was Vaishnavi.

After Bhandare, the Brahmin girls were eager to know about Vaishnavi but suddenly Vaishnavi disappeared and no one was seen after that. After a few days, the Brahmin had a dream of a Vaishnavi girl and it became clear that she was the mother Vaishno Devi.

Mata Rani, who came in the form of a girl, told the Brahmin about the sensation cave. After this the Brahmin set out in search of Shridhar Maa's cave. When he found that cave, he decided that he would serve his mother all his life. This was the story of Mother Vaishno Devi.
